When Worlds Collide
At any When Worlds Collide
you can expect:
-
Accessible plots with real depth. (That means NPCs
with interesting motivations, plots that change
dramatically in response to the players' reactions
and schemes, and a variety of possible outcomes.)
-
High quality
visuals. (All crew costumes will be head-to-toe, and
correct for the character. Player costumes are
expected to be the same. We minimise modern
intrusions into the settings, use candle-lit
locations and have convincing props rather than
nominal "phys-reps".)
-
High quality roleplaying. (This obviously means that
people do not drop out of character in IC areas. Less
obviously it also requires intelligence and respect:
alpha-male heroic shouting does not make for
interesting, inclusive roleplaying. Everyone is able
to interact equally, freely and enjoyably.)
-
Tactical combat. (Combat is not trading blows in
unavoidable encounters. It occurs in varying
quantities at different events, with an emphasis on
skirmishing and intelligent tactics, and most combat
encounters are optional.)
-
"What it costs is
what it costs". (WWC is not a commercial system.
It's a bunch of people who come together to have
fun. The referees will work out what it costs
on the day and then get equal contributions from
everyone to cover this up to an pre-stated maximum.)
LRP is a group
endeavour, where the experience is defined by the
actions and behaviours of all involved. So, in order to
get this experience, all players (including you) can be
expected to contribute equally to the above. That means
you should want to engage with the plot; your character should be a
reasonable, interesting person, who holds conversations
rather than shouting; you should have appropriate
costume for your character (it doesn't have to be living
history standard, but it does have to be "right"). Your
enjoyment is based on others' actions, and theirs on
yours, so please throw yourself into it and help add to
the When Worlds Collide experience. |
